a little bit about us

Barbichette is a natural wine producer driven to showcase the full expression of New York’s local fruit. Through their relationships with growers in the Finger Lakes, Barbichette’s César Vega and Louisiane Remy work exclusively with locally-grown fruit fermented naturally. Their focus is celebrating the potential of that which is around them.

Barbichette, which began as an experiment in making wine to share with family and friends, is now producing seven cuvées for the 2021 harvest. Committed to a less-is-more philosophy, César and Louisiane source the highest quality grapes, from growers whose farming practices align with their vision of celebrating terroir and quality. Barbichette believes in making wine by hand using simple, manual methods without the use of added sulfites, yeasts, chemical additives or fining and filtering.

Simply put – nothing added, nothing removed.

Long inspired by the countless parallels between wine and specialty coffee, they made the first thirty cases of riesling in a corner of their Brooklyn coffee roastery. The wines reflect the same spirit of precision and consistency in growing, harvesting, and processing they brought to their much-acclaimed, vertically integrated coffee company, Café Integral.

Barbichette is in many ways a representation and the perfect blend of their individual sensibilities. Raised between France, Switzerland, and New York with a background in art and fashion design, Louisiane is drawn to simplicity and quality: a galette de blé noir, vintage French workwear, and windy coastal regions. César spent his childhood in Nicaragua and Miami, and moved to New York to study photography. He launched Café Integral in 2012 as a way to share Nicaraguan coffee. Ever curious, he is obsessive about technique and precision: the perfect tortilla de masa, clean acoustics, and a pour over on a sunny day.

thank you,

to our incredible families and friends for their patient guidance, tireless efforts, boundless friendship… and bountiful helping hands! You all made what Barbichette is today and we are thrilled to finally share it with all of you.
